Chief Robert C. Forezzi, Sr.
Honorary Grand Marshal
2008
Chief Forezzi was born and raised in the South End of Albany, the youngest son of a first-generation American-Italian, Louis (Luciano) Forezzi, and his mother of Irish descent, Elizabeth Foley. He grew up across the street from the firehouse where his maternal grandfather was Lieutenant of Engine Five. Bob attended Saint Ann's grade school, Cardinal McCloskey High School, and graduated from the Paramedic Program at Hudson Valley Community College.
Bob joined the Albany Fire Department in 1974, fulfilling his childhood dream of becoming one of Albany's Bravest. His love of the job and commitment to the Albany Fire Department helped propel him through the ranks, becoming a Paramedic Lieutenant, State Fire Instructor, Deputy Chief and presently, Chief of the Department.
Bob is proud to be appointed the first Fire Chief of Italian decent in the Albany Fire Department. He is equally proud to serve the citizens of Albany through a career dedicated to protecting life and property, helping to raise the quality of life, and promoting safety through fire prevention and education to all citizens.
Chief Forezzi has been married for 24 years to his wife, Daphne. The couple has two children: Bob Jr., an Albany Police Officer; and Nicholas, a sophomore at Buffalo State College. He also is the proud grandfather of three boys: Alec, 13; Anthony, 5; and Nicholas, 3.
